Have you come to a place where you feel that everyone has forgotten you?
Has life taken some unexpected turns and your present circumstance is not where you planned to be?
I was reading our current study by Pastor Alex Himaya called “Overcome-Living Beyond Your Circumstances” and I felt that this was a powerful word for us all this morning:
“Joseph was 17 when he was taken to Egypt (see Genesis 37:2) and 30 years old when he was delivered from prison (see Genesis 41:46). He spent 13 years as a servant and a prisoner.
Joseph eventually became the second in command over all of Egypt, but he first experienced 13 years of discipline, training, and preparation. His path to a position of great authority and leadership was a path of humble service to others.”
(Pastor Alex Himaya)
Did you notice that last part?
“His path to a position of great authority and leadership was a path of humble service to others”
So where are you today?
Are you in the prison of life’s circumstances?
Have those around you betrayed and forgotten you?
Take comfort in God’s word and realize just as in Joseph’s life, God is always with us and even though we can’t see it-He is always working out things for our good.
And with this new year comes new opportunities for us to no longer be imprisoned by the circumstances of our lives.
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14).
Let us then walk away from bitterness and embrace these obstacles as opportunities knowing that God had a greater plan for us.
